Leinster Bay/Waterlemon Cay, STJ, USVI

Updated: Nov 6, 2021

Looking for great snorkeling, Leinster "aka 3 Ball Reef" and Waterlemon Cay have a ton of sea life for you to enjoy!

Smooth Trunkfish STJ

Leinster and Waterlemon are teeming with wildlife...rays, turtles, reef fish, and if you're lucky, you'll see the resident Nurse Shark...completely harmless...just give every animal space. There are dinghy moorings right in front of Waterlemon to the North. If one of the 3 mooring balls are open at Leinster, you can get on there but the day charter guys use these in season for their trips, so be mindful of time. Also, the current gets strong here so swim with a buddy and make sure you are comfortable in the water....we always suggest start upwind and let the current take you to the boat. This location also marks the furthest North of St. John that our dinghies are able to venture. For safety purposes, we do not allow guests to go past Waterlemon...some like to start here early in the morning and then work your way back down. Totally up to you...it is YOUR day!

The photo below shows you your orientation to the dinghy moorings here. Also, don't forget this spot has some incredible hikes....the video below shows Annaberg Plantation ruins which are the remnants of a sugar plantation from the 1700's and a place rich with history and culture of these islands. Great in depth background on these ruins can be found here. https://www.cyark.org/projects/annaberg-sugar-plantation/overview It definitely should be on your list of places to visit!

Dinghy moorings located just past Waterlemon Cay, heading North.
